Inspector Level II performs inspection tasks independently.
This position is part of a team responsible for incoming, in-process and final inspection to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.
This position interacts with other inspectors, quality engineers, managers, manufacturing leads and operators.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs first piece, in-process, finished product, and other inspections using a variety of test and measurement equipment and software including calipers, micrometers, optical comparators and other specialized gauges to examine product for defects and deviations from requirements.
Performs incoming material/hardware inspection to include visual, dimensional inspection and review and verification of supplier certificates and/or quality control test results to determine conformance with requirements.
Accepts or rejects finished products, accurately completes appropriate quality assurance condition tags, fosters continuous improvement and aids in facility corrective and preventive action measures.
Skilled at reading and understands blueprints, drawings, specifications, technical information and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in order to perform proper product inspections.
Documents inspection results accurately and completely using an array of controlled inspection forms, logs, and reports.
Uploads and maintains inspection documents, forms, logs, certificates of conformance and records in files and databases as required.
Compliance with all safety procedures, practices and policies is mandatory.
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Team-oriented and interacts professionally and effectively with customers, teammates and co-workers.
Complete other quality department tasks as assigned such as input of data into quality databases.
Abides by all Microcast Technologies Corporation policies and procedures.
Complete all required training, including tests, within Microcast Technologies Corporation guidelines.
Basic understanding of the industries Microcast Technologies Corporation services and the types of inspection and testing supplied by Microcast Technologies Corporation.
Proficient at following Microcast Technologies Corporation procedures in accordance with customer specifications.
Assist in OTJ training of employees with less experience Must be proficient in the use of inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
Ability to read and understand part drawings and designs Must have basic GD&T knowledge Perform complex dimensional layout inspection to blue prints.
Ensure all inspections are properly performed and documented and all records properly completed.
Performs inspection activities by interpreting, measuring and verifying per released standards using specified measuring tools and documentation.
Coordinates to fulfill work assignments with other inspection associates based on manufacturing priorities.
Performs final acceptance inspection of product according to procedures.
Adheres to the Quality Policy and Quality Management System.
Ability to determine trends in the inspection of products and to notify management when a trend is identified.
Generates nonconformance reports as required.
Assures manufacturing equipment is calibrated and maintained prior to use.
Supports Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering activities as required.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Reports to Quality Assurance Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS At a minimum a high school diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
A minimum of five years experience as an inspector in a manufacturing setting or a college degree in a relevant discipline is required.
Must have strong knowledge of mathematics.
A minimum score of 80 on the Quality Inspector Assesment.
Extensive ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, specifications, technical information and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in order to perform proper product inspections.
Must have a working knowledge of IS9001/AS 9100/OSHA requirements relating to a manufacturing environment.
Must have basic computer skills including navigating in windows, word, excel and powerpoint.
Must be able to use computer to generate or document inspection reports.
Must be able to organize time and assignments to properly prioritize efforts for maximum effectiveness.
Must be self-motivated and a Team Player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to use proper judgment and decisions to complete work assignments on schedule with minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Good manual dexterity is necessary for the use of common quality equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to lift and carry lightweight objects and use basic hand tools.
No heavy lifting is expected.
Exertion of up to 15 lbs.
of force occasionally may be required.
Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The job is generally performed within an industrial environment and you may be required to work within the shop floor.
The environmental conditions can be indoor, hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy.
Activities include periods of standing and sitting.
